Why Should You Join?   

Ability to make a visible difference for women and girls in our own community through our HCC scholarship, Tech Trek and other programs

Membership Requirements

Membership in the AAUW Sun City Center/South Shore branch supports our initiatives at the national, Florida state, and local level.  Any person (male or female) with an Associate degree or equivalent or higher from a regionally accredited college or university can join.

Dues

  • Branch members pay $72 per year for AAUW National membership. $12 per year for Florida state membership, plus $10 to $25 per year for branch membership, depending on the branch. All but $3 of National membership dues is tax-deductible because it supports AAUW Action Fund’s Capitol Hill Lobby Corps and get-out-the-vote activities. Branch members who join at an event open to the public can get a 50 percent discount on the National dues fee.

As we are an affiliate of a national organization, there is NO additional fee to the SCC Community Association for members living outside of Sun City Center.

  • A respected coalition to address state and regional issues
  • Active Public Policy Advocacy at state and federal level:  gender equity in education, elimination of harassment, Title IX, equal pay, women’s issues, including women in STEM
  • Conferences and workshops with expert, stimulating speakers
  • Advocacy information on AAUW priority issues
  • Centennial celebration of Women’s Suffrage

  • Study and take action on current problems and issues
  • Participate in branch projects which enrich and support the community

If you do not want to renew via computer, please send a $95 check made out to AAUW SCC SouthShore to our treasurer,  Joyce Schuetz at 11825 Myrtle Rock Drive, Riverview, FL 33578.

College Students – Free National E-Membership

Because HCC is a partner of the AAUW, students can join for free.  The additional benefits of student membership include advocacy, leadership opportunities, mentoring, resume building, discounts, and a free full membership for the year after graduation.
