Exciting year ahead for 2023

We have an exciting year ahead for 2023.  In January we will hear from Lou Anne Rossdeutsher on how the Campaign Against Human Trafficking is providing shelter and help to women who were caught in that terrible web.  Then in February the Pelican Players will present their play “Murder at Flontrachet Vineyard on Sunday afternoon at Community Hall to help raise money for our scholarships and theirs.  In March we will honor as our Woman of Distinction Janet Smith, founder of Haven of Hope to help former women prisoners.  She will also tell us of her helping Ukranian families this past summer as they took refuge in Poland.

Hillsborough Community College (HCC) and AAUW Sun City Center Connection

Our AAUW has been supporting HCC for years by giving 2-3 $1,000 scholarships to women who are at least 24 years old to give an opportunity for mature women to improve their lives through education. In March or 2021 our branch honored Dr. Jennifer China, president of the SouthShore HCC campus, as our Woman of Distinction. Since then we have had an even closer relationship and have been invited to be on the HCC advisory board.
